Hi, I’m Ian.

portrait: in about.mdI build quantum computers out of trapped atoms. At Duke, in Chris Monroe and Crystal Noel’s group, I design trap hardware and help build a 96-ion barium-137 machine.
I like work where physics meets hardware: figuring out what the ions need, then designing and building the thing that gives it to them. Outside the lab that turns into homelab servers, 3D-printed parts, modded electronics, and an amplifier with glowing tubes.
I also work with collaborators at the University of Washington.
